How many treatments will I need?
With our new Radial Pulse Therapy, tattoo removal is accelerated. Clients with older or more faded tattoos may only need 3 to 4 treatments. However, it can take up to 10-15 visits if the tattoo has significant dark, dense or layered ink.
Because every client and every tattoo are different, the number of treatments needed is unique to each patient. When you contact us about tattoo removal, we will use a variety of factors to assess your tattoo and best estimate the number of treatments you will need, including:
- Location of tattoo-further from the heart, requires more treatments i.e., hands and feet.
- Skin type
- Tattoo ink color-black being the easiest to remove
- Depth and amount of the ink
- Ink layering (cover-up)
- Scarring and tissues changes
- Type of ink (professional vs. amateur)
- Client health
How long will treatments take to fully remove my tattoo?
Because of the Z-Wave Radial Pulse Therapy device, treatments can now be spaced as close as 2 weeks apart rather than the previous 6-8. With this new technology, we are excited to be able to remove unwanted tattoos up to 3x faster than traditional laser tattoo removal therapy.
Because laser tattoo removal requires multiple sessions, for very faded tattoos, complete removal may happen after a couple months while others may take eight to twelve sessions
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
As part of our mission to improve individual lives, families, and our community, we offer free tattoo removal to formerly incarcerated individuals, former gang members and survivors of human trafficking. When you pay to have a tattoo removed with TRI, you give one to one of our returning citizens. See our Free Tattoo Removal Program page for more information, and contact us to see if you qualify for tattoo removal free of charge.
Is the laser painful?
Most clients compare the tattoo removal laser to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Other patients have said it feels like having a tattoo applied. Because everyone has a different pain threshold, every patient will react to the laser differently. Luckily, laser tattoo removal treatments are very quick and last anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated.
Are there any side effects?
Laser tattoo removal is the safest method for removing unwanted ink from the skin. Our laser is designed to specifically target and shatter ink without harming any of the surrounding skin tissue. The most common side effects are itchiness, redness, swelling, scabbing, and blistering. All these side effects are temporary and heal over time. Clients are strongly advised not to pick, poke, pop or scrap any scabs or blisters that form. Doing so can lead to scarring and infection. Be sure to follow proper aftercare instructions to ensure your skin heals flawlessly.
How do I care for the tattoo site after laser treatment?
Much like getting a tattoo, having a tattoo removed involves some aftercare to ensure proper healing. See our aftercare instructions for more information.
